This week the focus of our assemblies is our value of Respect.

Respect is a key value, not just at MRC but also in the wider community. The way we treat each other is incredibly important and we must all seek to treat each other the way in which we want to be treated ourselves. We must also remember to respect individual differences in school. I am always very proud of the way you treat and support each other; it is one of the things I think sets our school apart.

We also show respect and support for others through our charity work. Year 11 are currently working on an inter-form competition to see which tutor group can bring in the most food for the local foodbank; a fantastic and much needed charity throughout the year, but in particular as we approach Christmas. We will also hold another non-uniform day on the last day of term in aid of Sussex Snowdrop Trust, a charity which supports children who have life-limiting illnesses. The work the staff do at the Trust is fantastic and I am pleased that Kipling House chose to support this important charity.

Last week was special for two students in particular. Patrick Durand and Sophie Cook are both part of the Chichester Youth Theatre and are in Beauty and the Beast this year. On Thursday, they had the opportunity to perform in front of the Queen – a fantastic experience for them both. Beauty and the Beast starts on 16th December and it would be good if as many of you as possible were able to go and see it.

Last week’s whole-college assembly on the elimination of violence against women, led by Ms Owoh, was very thought-provoking, as it highlighted the plight of girls and young women across the World. We have a duty to support one another and if you feel concerned about the wellbeing of other students, please make sure you talk to a teacher.

A final well done to our students who won the poster competition. We have had the posters put up around the building – please can we all make every effort to keep our College tidy. Thank you.

Happiness was chosen as one of our core values by students last year.
The focus of our assemblies and tutor time this week is our value of Respect.
