Our values and ethos

Midhurst Rother College is a values driven school.

Our vision is to develop every member of our community academically, personally and socially to enable them to lead happy and successful lives. This means that we challenge each and every child to be the best person they can be, every day. We want each child to achieve their ‘personal best’ and to realise their ambitions and set high academic targets for all our young people. Education, for us, is about more than academic success. We educate the whole-child, providing them with a range of experiences outside of the classroom to develop well-rounded young people, ready for the next step in their lives.

Our vision is supported by our values, which were chosen by our students.

The values we all adhere to are: respect, happiness and achievement. At MRC, mutual respect and strong relationships are the norm. Our children are happy and feel safe in College and we create the environment to enable them to achieve.

We have a strong ethos in the College, which underpins our vision and values. We have high standards and expectations of everything we do. We also have a ‘no barriers’ approach and support all our young people through routinely celebrating their individual and collective successes. Kindness is central to our aims and values, we expect all members of our College community to be kind to each other in every action and interaction.

Our aims are to:

  • Bring out the ‘Best In Everyone’ educating the whole child and enabling them to flourish;
  • Equip our students with the necessary knowledge and skills for a happy and successful future life in our rapidly changing world;
  • Develop every member of our community academically, personally and socially to enable them to lead happy and successful lives;
  • Embed our values of respect, happiness and achievement;
