Mass and serial testing will help to improve this further and enable more students and staff to remain in College if they are a close contact of an infected person. It is also designed to reduce the virus spread in the community.
There are two purposes for testing: mass testing and serial testing. These can be explained as follows:
Mass Testing: this is where the whole Year group is tested to ascertain who has a high viral load and who may be asymptomatic. The testing process requires each child to be tested, with the test repeated between 3-5 days later.
Serial Testing: this will be used to test close contacts of an infected person. Each child would need to be tested each day for 7 days.
All testing is voluntary and further information is included on this page.
