A new week and a new look website!

Last week:
There is a lot to mention from last week with so many positive things happening in the College. We had our awards evening in Wednesday, which was just fantastic. It was lovely to see so many students being recognised for achievement and attitude to learning – well done to all. It is unfortunate that we could only have one winner in each category – seeing the work you produce it could have been more!

Last week we also had our Year 11 last day, for most students. Some year 11 have still got some exams to do and it is important that we continue to support them and that they continue to revise. Most have finished now and we look forward to sharing their successes in the summer.

MRC will also be represented at the Haslemere Fringe this year. There will be about 10000 people attending and we are taking part in the ‘battle of the bands,’ the winners will have their song recorded in a professional studio! We are supposed to have one band only, but the external judges couldn’t decide between “red rock” (Freddie Sewell, joe Kirby, Riley Robinson, Harvey Stacey and Alyssia Janscz) and “Indigo Blue” (Cicely and Honor Hawkes). As a result, both bands were put through – well done to you and also other bands who also took part. Thanks also to Miss Tidbury for her organisation.

Sponsored walk:
We were incredibly fortunate to have Mrs Ferris in College on Wednesday to talk to all students about Chestnut Tree House and the fabulous support they gave her and her family through an unimaginably difficult time over last year. It was incredibly moving to hear her talk about the sad loss of her youngest daughter, Chloe, who was just 9 years old. As a College, we will support Chestnut Tree House and all money raised from the walk will go to this wonderful charity. If we all raise £10 each from family and friends, we would have £8000 – a fantastic amount. Let’s work hard and commit to raise as much as possible to support our local community. This is incredibly important. Years 7-9 will do the walk on 9th July, Year 10 and 12 will do the walk in the last week of term – date still to be confirmed, but most likely 16th July.

This week:
Looking forward to the ADT exhibition on Tuesday evening and also the Sport and Performance Awards on Wednesday. I hope to see many of you there

Have a good week
