Welcome to Midhurst Rother College House system, launched in April 2015. Each of the 4 houses; Tennyson, Woolf, Austen or Kipling, is made up of tutor groups spanning from Year 7 – 12, overseen by a Head of House, sixth form House Leader and tutor house captains.
As well as a sense of belonging within the College, our house system allows every student the opportunity to compete in a house event in every subject area. Being a member of the house allows students and staff to show team spirit as all of the houses thrive on the ethos of healthy competition, it also allows the opportunity for students to gain leadership skills.
There are house events throughout the year in all areas of College life. These competitions ensure that everyone has the chance to represent their house in something that they enjoy, are good at or in an area in which they would like to try out a new opportunity.
House weeks and assemblies take part every half term and help bring to life the house system. House assemblies involve a mix of competitions, information, rewards and achievements; they also give updated house standings and advertise upcoming house events for the next half term.
Our House system works alongside the epraise rewards system and is ‘live’ every day on the epraise webpage and APP. These standings are also displayed daily across the college so students can easily see how well their house is achieving. At the end of the academic year all house points are added up, including the ‘double points’ from Drama, Music and Sports events and one house wins the overall house cup. The 2015-2016 House Champions were AUSTEN House, so they are the team to beat!
