Admissions

The aim of the College is to make joining it as easy as possible.  This is achieved through a carefully planned induction programme which aims to secure a smooth transition from Year 6 into 7.  The programme is delivered by a special transition team led by a Vice Principal who co-ordinates links with each primary school.  The College recognises that the step from a small and often rural primary school to secondary school is a huge one, and it wants students and their families to feel supported as they make it.

In the early part of the Autumn Term the parents of students in Year 5 and 6 are welcome to visit the College.  During our Open Days parents and future students can see the College at work, talk to senior staff and take a tour of the buildings and grounds.  During our Open Evenings members of staff and students will be available to answer questions and discuss College life.  The Principal will also address parents during the Open Evenings.

The links between primary schools and the College are excellent and primary-secondary transition is at the heart of these relationships.  During the summer term the Pastoral Leader of the incoming Year 7 will visit students at their primary school and Year 6 students will visit the College for a ‘Familiarisation Day’.  New students will have the chance to meet their form tutors and they will experience a typical College day.  To follow this, an induction programme takes place in the first few weeks of the Autumn Term.

Formal admission procedures are operated through West Sussex County Council.  Further information and details of the College’s policy on admission are available from:
