At Midhurst Rother College, we aim to ensure that the curriculum for each year group caters for a range of pathways and suits the needs of all our students. We review the structure and provision of the curriculum each year to enable students to achieve the highest possible standards.

In Year 7, students study French, with the opportunity to study German and Spanish in Years 8 and 9.

Setting occurs in English, Maths, Science and Modern Languages.

Year 9:

Year 9 is a key transition year at Midhurst Rother College.  Students begin preparation for GCSEs in several subjects and also take Functional Skills exams in both English and Maths.

Option subjects:

Students at Key Stage 4 follow a range of different pathways designed to maximize students’ potential. The pathways offered include an Ebacc route, GCSE, Vocational and Support pathways. Students are advised on the correct balance of subjects to enable them to succeed both at Key Stage 4 and in the Sixth Form, with a view to attending University or College when they leave MRC.

Enrichment Days and Period 6 Provision:

The enrichment opportunities offered at Midhurst Rother College during 2015-16 will be the very best in the College’s history. All students in Years 7-10 will have the choice of a hugely varied and exciting enrichment programme timetabled into their school day on at least two occasions each week. Activities will range across elite sports coaching, journalism, surf school, cookery lessons, archaeology, cycling and much more. These activities will be delivered by College teaching staff and external coaches with a specialism in their field.

Students in all year groups also have a programme of Enrichment Days covering Personal, Social and Health Education topics such as health awareness, crime, internationalism and STEM projects.
