MRC Summer School 2021

We held a delightful Summer School 2021 program this year during the week of 26 - 30 July. This was for 60+ Year 6 students who were identified by their primary schools for benefiting from an extended transition process to settle them into MRC. 

Students participated in ;

 

Social Skills - event planning to participate in the annual national butterfly survey to help conserve wildlife, with the application of maths, problem-solving and science skills

English - The Iron Trial! A summer adventure of magicians - group reading, 1:1 reading, drama performances

Maths - Tokyo Olympics - real life maths skills put into roles inlcluding designers, catering, judges, athletes 

Science & Geography - Bear Grylls Challenge - can you make an egg fly!?

Team Games - Kinball, Street Surfing, Rock Climbing, Pakour....and much more!

Tutor time - Summer School diary, target setting, achievement badge collections, tutor pastoral care

Cowdray Trip - National Historic site Cowdray Ruins, castle tour, Falconry talk and show

 

MRC had access to a Government funding total of £19,999 to host the Summer School. The final cost of hosting the Summer School was £14, 849.49. This breakdown of this includes the following areas:
