Schedule for Mathematics

The Mathematics department have written specific revision lists for each year group to help your child to prepare for the end of year exam.   The results of this will be used to inform set changes. 

HegartyMaths clips relating directly to the End of Year (EOY) assessment questions have been scheduled into an independent revision programme for pupils to attempt over 4 weeks (recommended).  Please see the 4 week schedules attached to INSIGHT for your reference.

The schedules relate directly to the following sections in the EOY assessments:

  1. Year 7: Section A (fluency)
  2. Year 8: Section A (fluency)
  3. Year 9: Section A-B (all pupils sit these sections)
  4. Year 10: Section A-C for foundation and higher (all pupils sit these sections for their relevant tier)

Year 7

At the end of June students will be sitting 2 papers.  Each paper is 60 minutes long and tests students on everything that you have learnt in Year 7.

Students should use the knowledge organiser to aid revision, using the method of read, cover, write and check.  Revision methods will have been covered during lessons to include the use of mind maps or revision flash cards.

Practice questions for the content covered can be found on the above link.  The test covers the following topics:

  • Biology: Cells, Reproduction
  • Chemistry: Particles, Chemical reactions
  • Physics: Forces, Energy

Year 8

Year 10

Students should complete 3 hours in total of Seneca Learning for all of their sciences (1 hour each).

  • Click ‘Classes and Assignments’ then Join Class and enter the class code xlyfwevo8s – ALL MUST DO THIS!
  • Within this class are the courses you need to use to help you revise for the Year 10 exams in June.
  • Teachers will be able to check your progress on this site – students not completing sufficient work will receive at a minimum C2, and if no work is completed at all, a C3 may be issued.

 

Also, students should complete 3 hours of past paper questions, using the Question Banks at https://www.mrc-academy.org/curriculum/year-11 under the science section.   Paper 1s only.

Should student have no access to the internet over the half-term break, printed booklets can be collected from the Science work base prior to the break and these can be submitted in place of work on Seneca Learning.
