Message from the Chairman
The Chairman of the Midhurst Rother College Local Governing Body (LGB) is David Anderson. A former scholar of Winchester College and Oxford graduate, David is an investment banker with 30 years’ experience in advising boards of public companies. David is also Chairman of Buttle UK which provides grant aid to children and young people in need. Here he gives us his thoughts on the academy:
"Wherever you go to school, inspirational teachers can make a massive difference to the decisions you make about your future and the person you ultimately become. Throughout my career as a soldier and as a banker, I have always valued the knowledge, sense of intellectual enquiry and analytical ability that I was encouraged to develop at school.
“The Local Governing Body's vision for Midhurst Rother College is to develop an academy that builds on the strong tradition of education in the area and, through the sponsorship of United Learning and the partnerships with Winchester College and the University of Chichester, accelerate academic and personal achievement. We want to create a centre of educational excellence in Midhurst which equips its students with the appropriate skills and self-confidence to deal effectively with the opportunities and challenges of their individual lives and careers.
"The academy’s Local Governing Body works closely with its Principal, Dr Vitagliano, and the senior leadership team to establish Midhurst Rother College as a school that local people are proud of and that is a beacon for rural academies across the country. We moved into our splendid new building in September 2012 which is another major step in our development as a centre of educational excellence."
