Admissions

Admission Criteria

The College is keen to encourage as many students as possible to continue their education beyond the age of 16.  Students already on roll are entitled to transfer to the Sixth Form, providing they meet the published criteria for entry.  We also welcome students from outside the College, offering them the very highest educational standards in a friendly and supportive environment.

To secure a place on an A level programme, you will need to have achieved grade C or above in at least five subejcts at GCSE.  To be able to take some A level courses, students may need to have achieved an A or a B in particular subjects.  Please look carefully at the subject requirements in the prospectus.  Each case will be judged on its own merits and it may still be possible for students with lower qualifications to follow an A level course.

Admission Limits

The admission limit for Year 12, subject to student choices, will be 150 in 2010.  The College will accept its own students first and will offer the remaining places to external applicants who meet the entry requirements.  If oversubscribed, those whose permanent address is closest to the College will be given priority.

External Applicants

Midhurst Rother College warmly welcomes applications to its Sixth Form from students from other schools.  External applicants will be offered an interview with the Director of Key Stage 5 who will discuss with them their application and the courses they wish to take.  Assuming the interview and reference are satisfactory, the Director of Key Stage 5 will then offer a place which will be conditional on the candiddate achieving the required GCSE grades.
