Sixth Form

The Sixth Form is one of the most important and exciting times in a young person’s life.  It is when students take responsibility for their own education and when a whole world of opportunities becomes open to them.

At Midhurst Rother College, we strongly encourage all our students to stay on at the academy for Sixth Form.  Our curriculum, which offers a wide range of traditional and vocational subjects, is designed to fully prepare each student for life beyond school – whether they go on to university or straight to work.

In the Sixth Form, we keep class sizes small; this means our teachers are able to give students individual help and attention so that they can achieve their fullest potential.

Students are fully supported in making the transition from GCSE to the next level.  Each Sixth Former has a personal mentor with whom they meet regularly on a one-to-one basis to discuss any difficulties they may have and their future plans.

Until the new building is constructed, our Sixth Form is housed in Capron House where students have access to:

  • Two dedicated Sixth Form IT and study rooms
  • Two Common Rooms each with a computer and study facility
  • Kitchen facilities
  • The Conference Room and Garden Room where they can hold meetings.

Sixth Form students wear smart-casual clothing, appropriate for a working environment.

Our Sixth Formers also greatly benefit from our partnerships with Winchester College and the University of Chichester. Midhurst Rother College and Winchester College Sixth Form students work together in workshops and symposia that bring together many aspects of the curriculum, especially in science, mathematics and music.  Through these joint activities, students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons beyond the curriculum.

Our partnership with the University of Chichester gives our students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of what university can offer them.  As part of the partnership, Midhurst Rother College Sixth Formers are invited to visit the University, work on specific projects with university students and receive additional support and guidance on applying to university.
