Our New Building
The proposed plan for our new building is a state-of-the-art, four-winged school, accommodating a house in each, with a central drum and atrium at its core. The central drum and atrium design will be on three floors. Reception will be found on the ground floor with stairs and corridors leading off to each wing. The top floor of the central ‘drum’ will be devoted to Sixth Form. The new building will sit neatly and sensitively in our long established setting.
Featuring innovative landscaping and layout, the site will be completely enclosed with a dedicated transport terminal as well as facilities available to share with the Midhurst community, such as a theatre and drama and dance studios. Outdoor provisions offer a floodlit, all-weather sports pitch, six tennis courts and two drama amphitheatres. The Sports Hall, which complements the new structure, and was only completed in 2006, will remain untouched.
The project team, made up of our Principal, Dr Vitagliano and staff, West Sussex County Council, Balfour Beatty and United Learning Trust members, is working hard to ensure that work is on target for the opening in Autumn 2012 and that the community has a wonderful new building that will serve future generations of students well.
