Work Experience
We can see the value in learning through experience and as such we offer students a 1 week work placement – this is usually for Year 10 students and takes place in the summer term. Students are given training on skills for the working world in the run up to their time in work experience – these include telephone skills, punctuality, attitude to work etc. Each student is visited by a member of staff during the week and they are also given a work experience diary for them to complete whilst working.
What can students do?
Use the U-Explore website to look at possible careers choices. Talk to adults about the different jobs they do. Talk to your teachers about qualifications and career progression.
What can parents/carers do to support?
Talk to your child about possible career choices, the skills they will need in the work place, career progression and so on. Encourage your child to find a placement independently.
