Curriculum
The College offers a broad and balanced curriculum across all the Key Stages. In their first three years, students will concentrate on attaining high standards of literacy, numeracy and developing competencies in ICT. The College also places an emphasis on the development of personal, learning and thinking skills. The combination of these key attributes will enable students to achieve success across all subject areas and equip them to extend their learning opportunities. Students will learn in a mixture of groupings, from mixed ability classes to those organised according to ability or need.
The broad curriculum on offer at Key Stage 3 enables students, with parents and tutors, to make informed choices for GSCE level and beyond.

Students at Key Stage 4 follow a broad and balanced range of subjects including options chosen from a wide range of subjects:
Art, Drama, Photography, ICT, Business Studies, Modern Languages, Physical Education, Product Design, Textiles, Food Technology History, Geography, Music, Media Studies are all offered as GCSE courses.
Additional support is offered for those students who need a more personalised curriculum. The Additional Educational Needs department offers a wide range of accredited courses for targeted students.
The College also offers a number of vocational courses including Btecs in Hospitality and Beauty Therapy. Some students also take part in external placements at Chichester College which offers a wide range of level 1 courses including Equine Studies, Catering, Mechanics and Construction.
Midhurst Rother College is able to offer a wide range of A level (Level 3) courses including progression routes for all those GCSEs studied in Years 10 and 11. In addition, A level courses such as Further Maths, Sociology, Psychology and Law are available.
Level 2 courses are offered on a bespoke basis, depending on the needs of the cohort.
Period 6:
A distinctive feature of Midhurst Rother College is ‘Period 6’. This is an extra-curricular period which is compulsory for Key Stages 4 and 5, but voluntary for Key Stage 3. During this added hour at the end of the College day, students are offered a wide range of additional opportunities including intervention and support sessions, clubs and activities. Some students use this time to take on additional accredited courses in smaller, express groups.
